Since the installation process is normally divided into several phases, it is also
helpful to divide the installation equipment into individual kits that correspond to
each specific installation task. There are seven major tool kits that must be maintained:
Standard Tool Kit, Power Tool Kit, Electrical Supply Kit, Layout Equipment Kit, Personnel
Equipment Kits, Access Equipment Kit (ladders, lifts, and stands), and Onsite Repair Kit.

One of the most important installation skills is the ability to correctly identify each
type of fastener and know when and how to use them. You must be able to install fasteners
of an appropriate type and size into the correct frame locations and into the correct
wall components. Below are links to the five basic fastener categories: Bolts, Wood
Lags, Masonry Screws, Metal Screws, and Expansion Anchors. Each of these has a unique
purpose and requires a specific technique for proper installation.
