Tips On How To Use GatorStitch

To secure awning & canopy frames to the deck of a trailer, you will need an assortment of accessory equipment. Standard Z-brackets and wood lags shown belwo are needed to fasten frames to wooden decks. The length of the lag screw will depend on the thickness of the wood decking. Other types of vehicle decks, such as steel and aluminum, may not be suitable for quick frame attachments, and will probably require custom attachment hardware. We recommend that you keep about 50 Z-brackets and several boxes of wood lags in a water proof plastic container like the one below.

In addition to rigid floor connections, large canopy frames often require adjustable straps, ropes, and clamps for secure transport. We suggest four heavy duty 3" ratchet straps, four 5' ropes, four 10' ropes, and four 20' ropes for each transport vehicle. Use a good quality rope that is at least 1/2" diameter and suitable for tying sound knots. These accessories along with the z-bracket box can be neatly organized in a locking truck box as shown below.
