Tips On How To Use GatorStitch

Question: What frame fabrication tools do I need to successfully create fabric structures using the GatorStitch frame system?
Answer: GatorStitch can easily be used with slight modifications to your current tube bender you use for bending standard square light guage steel tubing or with the Steel Stitch PRB-3000 Power Roller Bender customized for bending GatorStitch, a standard MIG welder, a standard chop saw or miter saw with an abrasive cut off blade (however, a pedestal cold saw is highly recommended).   Question: Can I use the same fabric and PVC trim application tools with GatorStitch as I have been using for making aluminum-framed structures?
Answer: Yes! GatorStitch works well with all of your current aluminum-based fabric and PVC finishing tools including your air staplers and pneumatic hammers, and with Steel Stitch galvanized or stainless steel staples.

Question: Can I use Steel Stitch PVC finishing trims with the GatorStitch framing system?
Answer: Yes! The GatorStitch stapling channel has the same dimensions as our aluminum staple-in framing members from which it was derived and easily recieves the application of all Steel Stitch PVC and fabric-covered finishing trims.

Question: It appears that the GatorStitch product has an aluminum stapling web embedded within a 1" steel tube. How have the two metals been kept from adversely reacting with each other?
Answer: The steel component of GatorStitch is made from galvanized (zinc-based) G-90 steel coil that is treated with a Chromate conversion coat followed by an Epoxy coat that forms a triple-layered barrier between the aluminum and the steel, thus preventing corrosion from occurring between the dissimilar metals.

Question: What precautions, if any, do I need to take when welding GatorStitch steel tubing?
Answer: Click here to go to Sonco Tube's guidelines for zinc-coated steel MIG welding. (Sonco Tube is an Authorized Distributor of GatorStitchTM products.)
