When you weld galvanized steel tubing, all protective coatings are vaporized, thus leaving a raw, unprotected area in the weld zone. For GatorStitch users who are concerned about corrosion protection in the weld zone, we would like to suggest investigating any of the following cold galvanizing compounds. Each product is heat resistant up to 750°F and act as a primer for powder coating.

  • ZRC cold galvanizing compound (battleship grey)
  • ZRC Galvanite cold galvaning compound (shiny)
  • Rustolastic #24-A-120
  • Kalcor 75% zinc dust epoxy primer #61-2373

GatorStitch galvanized steel staple-in framing material comes ready for finishing. No additional priming of the tubing is necessary. Powder-coating is considered the best form of finishing for coated galvanized steel tubing. However, air dry and baked topcoat paints can also work well. We suggest visiting Allied Tube & Conduit's website for additional information on finishing of galvanized tubing.
