Expansion anchors are used to connect column base plates to concrete footings or slabs. They are also used when awning or canopy frames must be connected to solid concrete walls. As a minimum, the following expansion anchors and hardware as seen below should be included: ¼" x 3¼" expansion anchors, 3/8" x 33/4" expansion anchors, 3/8" x 5" expansion anchors, 5/16" i/d. x ¾" o/d. x 1/16" flat washers, 13/32" i/d. x 13/16" o/d. x 1/16" flat washers, ¼" masonry bits, and 3/8" masonry bits. The ¼" diameter expansion anchors are used to make frame-to-wall connections, while the 3/8" anchors are reserved for base plate attachment.
